Key Benefits
Gentle Exfoliation: Lactic acid is a type of alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) and gently exfoliates the skin's surface, removing dead skin cells and promoting a brighter, smoother complexion.
Hydration and Moisturization: Unlike some other peels, lactic acid has humectant properties, which means it helps draw moisture into the skin. This can result in improved hydration, making it suitable for individuals with dry or dehydrated skin.
Unclogs Pores: The exfoliating properties of lactic acid help to clear out debris, excess oil, and other impurities from the pores, reducing the likelihood of acne breakouts.
Even Skin Tone: Lactic acid peels can assist in diminishing the appearance of dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin tone, leading to a more uniform complexion.
Softening Fine Lines and Wrinkles: Regular use of lactic acid peels may help soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, promoting a more youthful-looking skin.
Stimulates Collagen Production: By encouraging collagen production, lactic acid peels can help improve skin elasticity and firmness over time.
Suitable for Sensitive Skin: Lactic acid tends to be milder compared to other chemical peels, making it a favorable choice for individuals with sensitive skin, as it's less likely to cause irritation or redness.
Improves Skin Texture: Regular use of lactic acid peels can refine skin texture, making it smoother and more radiant.

The benefits of a chemical peels are manifold. Regular peels can lead to smoother, more even-toned skin, improved skin texture, reduced fine lines and wrinkles, and the fading of hyperpigmentation and dark spots. They can also assist in controlling acne breakouts by clearing clogged pores and reducing acne scars. Additionally, facial peels stimulate collagen production, which helps to promote firmer, more youthful-looking skin.
It is important to note that not all chemical peels are the same. There are three basic types of peels - superficial, medium and deep. The Skin Formulas Lactic Acid Peel is a superficial peel which involves the removal of dead skin from the upper most layer of the skin, this type of superficial peel offers all of the above benefits.

There are several key factors which will be considered when determining a clients suitability for a chemical peel. Factors such as skin type, skin concerns, medical history, whether you are pregnant and breastfeeding, current skin conditions, recent sun exposure, expectations and lifestyle and previous peel experience.
-
During a lactic acid peel:
First your skin will be cleansed to remove any makeup, oil, or debris. A prepping solution will then be applied to degrease the skin and ensure the peel penetrates effectively.
After this I will apply the peel solution to your skin and leave it to work for a few minutes - the time it remains on your skin will be determined by your skin type. During this time you might experience a slight tingling or stinging sensation, which is usually mild.
The peel will then be neutralized with a neutralizing solution to stop the exfoliation process.
After a lactic acid peel:
You might experience slight redness, warmth, or a sunburn-like sensation right after the peel, which should subside within a few hours.
In the days following the peel, you may notice some light peeling or flaking as the exfoliation process takes place. This is the shedding of dead skin cells and is part of the skin renewal process.
Over the following days and weeks, your skin will likely appear smoother, more radiant, and more even in tone as the old, damaged skin is shed, revealing fresher, healthier skin underneath.
Your skin may be more sensitive to the sun. It's essential to use sunscreen and limit sun exposure to prevent damage and hyperpigmentation.

Chemical peels deliver long-lasting results. For maximum, long term impact regular treatments are essential. The cumulative effect can lead to long-term benefits like reduced fine lines, improved skin tone, and enhanced skin texture.

Following a lactic acid peel, it's important to take several precautions to ensure proper healing and to maximize the benefits while minimizing potential side effects:
Sun Protection: After a lactic acid peel, your skin becomes more sensitive to the sun. Always use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. Limit sun exposure and wear protective clothing, hats, and sunglasses when outdoors. Avoid Irritants: Steer clear of any harsh skincare products, particularly those containing strong exfoliants, retinoids, or abrasive ingredients for a few days post-peel.
Moisturize: Use a gentle, hydrating moisturizer to keep your skin nourished and aid in the healing process. Serums such as Clear Skin Treatment, Hydra Hyaluronic Acid Serum and Vitamin C Prevent Serum are also recommended to repair, hydrate and protect.
Avoid Picking or Peeling: It's essential to let the peeling process happen naturally. Avoid picking, scratching, or exfoliating the skin manually, as it can lead to irritation, scarring, or infection.
Hydrate: Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from within. Hydration supports the skin's recovery process.
Follow Post-Peel Instructions: Specific instructions will be provided to you post-peel, based on your skin type and the peel applied. Follow these guidelines to ensure proper care for your skin.
Refrain from Excessive Heat: Avoid hot showers, saunas, and strenuous exercise that causes excessive sweating immediately after a peel, as heat can exacerbate skin sensitivity.

A facial peel is a radiant transformation, revealing the glow that was always yours to own.
